This is the future of America. The babyboomers strike again. Anyone who knows me knows I hate this generation with a passion. They will not die gracefully. They will not age gracefully. They will not step down from power gracefully. They wanted to do everything differently than their parents and grandparents. It has done us so well in many ways: Human rights for all races of people in America, reproductive rights for women, voting rights for all races, and more freedom for all. But so many things they have done are so completely wrong. They have over-indulged children. They have created narcissists (because they themselves are). They have modeled and advocated extremities. There is a generation of people licking their own wounds and disregarding the wounds of everyone else. We have bred people with no conscience or sense of guilt. We need shame and guilt. There is NO bad emotion or feeling. God has given us all the emotions and feelings we have. Sin and evil comes from actions we take. Anger should move us to change things or preserve self. Shame keeps us from desecrating our or other’s dignity. Lust keeps the species alive. But these emotions should not be so extreme. Moderation: something the babyboomers no nothing about. Just because you can do something….doesn’t mean you SHOULD. The question you to yourself is SHOULD I do something, not CAN I do something. The Puritanical work ethic and capitalism has help this country be one of the greatest countries economically, militarily, and powerfully, but working all the time is not good. There needs to be time for family and relaxation. We are out of balance. Greed the god of the babyboomers. We may have money, a mighty army and power, but we don’t have happiness and fulfillment.
On a lighter note, uh, ladies have you heard this song. Uh, love and hate it at the same time. But there are few other guys like this (read like some extra meat on their women), check him out.
*inspired by an Oprah episode and the fear that their will be no Social Sercuity. Don’t dis Oprah. She has lots of insight, even though she has that know-it-all I’m in my 50s thing. Look around to the 50+ people you know and you will understand what I mean by that statement.

"Do your part to save Social Security. Poison your nearest BabyBoomer."
(These words of wisdom came from an article on Slate.com, published earlier this year)
Thug-a-boo, the downfall of the black community is that the black man will not step up, get legal jobs, take advantage of educational opportunities (at least graduate from high school), marry black woman, stop acting like stud animals and inseminating all available females only to disappear, stop whining about the white man, stop idealizing and chasing the white woman, and realize the future is the palm of their hands. And first and foremost remember he is not a slave.
I guess it was 'james johnson'. your comment was stupid. By 'stupid' I mean over-simplified nonsense. I can't stand when people decide to 'examine' complex problems, like social economic decline, and then offer their three-step, quick-fix, b.s. solution as if it were that elementary. Thank you, idiot, for breaking this matter down for me. Now I, a black man, can set myself to the task of repairing the community which I so foolishly sent (single-handedly) spiraling into decline.
By the way, in order to repair any and everything on this planet, in this life, you must apply correct, effective, action and intelligence. Note: nowhere in my short list did I mention 'finger-pointing'.
I do understand and believe that each person on this planet is responsible for their life, as it is. Only YOU can dig your way out of a hole, REGARDLESS of who or what placed you there. That is what ALL men need to take heed of. And, yes I would be particularly pleased if all black men did so. We would do well to remember that pure initiative is paramount to the success of any endeavor. The pressures and complications that plague us can serve as motivators, and nothing else. It is true that a great many of us are wandering, and when you address it, keep in mind the power of your words.
I read Felicia's statement about not signing your rants and I would like to claim my comment above. My name is Anthony Goins. Also, the name calling was every bit as unecessary as the finger pointing, I apologize. I was a little rash in my response early on. But I do want to thank you for writing what you did; Had you not, I would not have expressed my thoughts. Thank you ,again.
