What is with the MIND?

Why does your mind torture you with old situations? Old memories? Old love? Old hate? Old mistakes? Is it just me or does your mind obsess about things you can not change and on times when you felt more stupid than Jessica Simpson at a MENSA meeting? It seems like you should have more control of your thoughts. Maybe some people do. I am not blessed with that power. I’m packing away and my thoughts drift to the times I’ve made a fool of myself over a man, the times I’ve said something nonsensical to a person I’m trying to impress, or the times I’ve been caught without the reading done in that stupid Socratic method. Why am I lingering on each and every faux paux? I can’t change any of them. I can’t go back and say what I wanted to say. I can’t go back and slap the guy in the face instead of begging him to pay attention to me. But my mind just keeps going back to taunt me. To mock my judgment. To tease bad clothing choices. To ridicule my decisions. (EXHALE) I should get back to folding clothes, lamenting over bad memories, agonizing over the future, and totally neglecting the present.

(Anyone remember Adriana Evans? She got a nose job. The horror.)

Ahh, the 90s....

Remember when a girl could wear her hat to the back, a hockey jersey, baggy jeans, and combat boots and still be considered feminine because she had a full face of makeup including the chestnut lined lips with shiny gold lipstick? Thrown a little African jewelry and you had a FIT! Now you must be half-naked to be considered a sexy woman. Remember when Diddy was Puffy and he was the mack in the back (not the chump in the front) giving us the HOT beats of Mary J. Blige, and the rest of the Uptown crew? Now he cheats on his beautiful, Black girlfriend with white and latin girls. Remember when rap was about intricate lyrics, the Wu-Tang Clan were the kings of Hip Hop, Jay-Z was good, Biggie and Pac were still alive, rap was still conscious, there a variety of rap voices and the only thing out of the south was Outkast? Now all we have are “hood niggas,” southern faker cheerleaders, and in the closet ex drug dealers and gun runners. Remember when R&B girls didn’t walk around naked and sang songs that were about feelings and emotions not money and material items? Now we have girls sing about furs and clothes. Remember when a dark skin girl could get a record contract without winning a national contest, black people acknowledged weaved in tresses were about white supremacy, soul was making a comeback with Maxwell & crew, light skin boys were in style, any color Black girl was in style, and there were Black TV shows on the major networks? Damn, I’m old.

A Black Woman’s Heaven

To wake up one day in the not so distant future and be appreciate for strength of character and mind. To be love and revered for her womanly shapes and womanly ways. To be considered a HELPmate no matter if the help sometimes come with a bitter pill. To not be degraded because she is not “nice.” To not be discarded because she speaks up and out. To not be shunned because she did remain quiet and dutiful. To know her beauty is worshiped in all its incarnations from blackberry cordial to white chocolate. To feel comfortable and proud with her hair that does NOT move and is NOT a sheath of silk. To have a God-Given Mate who sees NO one but her. To know that her dream of a family that looks exactly like her is not an antiquated or prejudiced idea. To realize that her love for her God-Give Mate is reciprocated with no conditions, abridgments, or additions. To have had ten marriage proposals from good, decent, hard-working, moral MEN. To know her son AND her daughter do not have to fear each other when they meet in the world.

A Black Woman’s Hell: today.

(I’m baaaaaaack!)

This is pitiful

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21367799/

Can you believe this ish!?!?! You white folks probably don’t even know that black folks have this silly issue. Uh, it stems from white supremacy, white Jesus, white God, white Barbie, white models, white babydolls….blah, blah, blah. Obliterated self-image and self-esteem. Self hate HIGH. Self love low. Uh, I could go on, but I have other things to do. You know my stance…

oh, yeah, we have to battle this nonsense as well

A brilliant woman

Well, you KNOW I had to talk about Shaunie and Shaq. From the title of this blog alone you know what I think. But let me tell you why I think this woman is a smart cookie. First, let’s do a little context. Cuz, what’s life without context. Milling around in the dark, I say. Well, there are few instances in America where a woman earn hundreds of millions dollars doing a job. I can only think of music superstars and movie superstars. Sports sorta. Remember the WNBA? It’s still around, but who watches? Uh, no one. Anyway, fast forward. You’re a cute, sassy young Black co-ed. A seven foot Black giant takes an interest in you and…..you end up married to a NBA superstar. Of course, this after he sleeps around and ends up in a Professional Ho’s tell all book, gives you three babies (you helped make them, no doubt), and you sign some SUPER, ironclad prenuptial agreement. You know you love your man, but you know the statistics of divorce. Shit, Juanita and Michael got divorced! So, you begin taking money that you LEGALLY have access to and build a nest egg, build a possible escape route. You set up your own accounts. You buy property. All in just your name. You take the money you earn and maximize it to its fullest economic potential. You have in mind the importance of protecting YOURSELF and the KIDS, because he certainly protected himself with the prenuptial agreement (which by the way, we don’t know WHAT it said or how it left her in case of a divorce or separation). I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again here: Shaunie is one smart bitch. Booo-yah, Shaq!

The framework to change America

It’s already there: the school system. There are building. There are people. There is an administrative system. We could transform America in 20 years. In my world all parents would go to work the same hours that their children did. No latch key kids. No after school programs. Kids would start school at age 3 years old not 5, because no mother can stay with her child and teach her manners or read stories or bake cookies. Eliminate daycare except for infants, and start school early. (Well in my world there would be longer maternity leave or job sharing or part time work for new parents.) Once school began at 3 years old, the system would be strictly Montessori method. I don’t know why everyone does not use this method because it is TRIED and TRUE. It works. And no it’s not a religion and no its no some new age way to teach. And if you never heard of it, you’re probably just stupid (oh, that was harsh). Anyway, there would be blended classes and no tracking system. You can’t make a super smart kid dumb by having her help the “slower” kid, in fact you can raise both up at the same time. “It’s not my kids job to help other kids.” Guess what you can help now or incarcerate and pay welfare later, you’re choice, Little Miss Selfish Elitist. Sixth grad would go back to elementary school where these babies belong and the ninth would go back to middle or junior high. No more arranging school around SPORTS (the reason the school system put ninth grade up with high school in the first place so coaches could get those boys in football). Appropriate sex/health education would begin at 3 years old. And by the time the kids reached high school unwanted pregnancies would not be a problem neither would STDs. Because guess what you have programmed kids so early (when they listen to adults) of course they will delay sex. Talking to a teenager is like talking to Bush…they know it all and can’t be dissuaded from their mission. In high school, there will 4 years of EVERY CORE SUBJECT: math, science, English, history, humanities & Spanish (why are we wasting time learning German and French, when we should be learning Spanish and Chinese?). To graduate you must complete classes in geography, civics, and world religions. Everyone will be taught at a high level, college-ready level whether they plan to attend classes or not. Teacher salaries will be raised. There would be a national curriculum like in other countries where they realize regional or state boundaries can’t prevent the country from working together to reach the same goal. If everyone is Colorado and New Hampshire is smart and everyone in Mississippi and Alabama are stupid, what good will that do America as a whole?? Ouch! I just fell off my soapbox.

Did you make the cut?

Yesterday morning a few choice people were eliminated. . . from my cell phone contacts. Erased. From the list. Outgoing. Incoming. Missed. Text messages. Everything. Gone. So, if you don't hear from me. You won't. If I hear from you, you will be ignored. I'm through with you. You all know who you are.

Cheers to a new life without you!!!!

Ummm....

There is much too say this week. People are never what you expect. You yourself are never what you expect. People intentionally hurt you. People unintentionally hurt you. Life is boring. Life is an adventure. You react to things based on childhood scars. You create new adult scars. You work hard and get nothing. You work very little and are rewarded beyond belief. You're in love with one person most of your life. You're in hate with most people for even longer. Could you be a little more optimistic about life? Yes. Will you. Maybe. Maybe not.

Answer me this

How come Hilary thinks she should get credit for her “experience” at being First Lady for 8 years?

Why does Rudy believe he can be he Republican candidate with two ex-wives, children that hate him, belief in gay rights/marriage, and pro-choice?

How are companies suing youtube for infringing copyrights? (nobody is going to pay to watch your commercial or music video)

Does anyone want to be a doctor anymore?

Has anyone made the connection that the reason many Americans don’t take vacation is they CANNOT afford to take one?

When are wages going to go up to match prices?

Why are men crazy?

Can you make love work across the country?

Do you like stale vanilla wafers?

Is there a cure for shallowness?

Is Dennis Kucinich serious?

Are we ever going to give actual quality education to EVERYone in the USA?

The reason America is ridiculous

Read this.

This is so interesting to me. I read all the time. This year I’ve read probably at least five or six. It would be more if I didn’t have to work so hard at my job. I love reading. There is so much knowledge out there. There are so many wonderful stories. There are so many inspiring lives. There are so many cautionary tales. I can’t understand why you wouldn’t read a book. If you say reading is boring…you just haven’t found the right book. There are so many titles and genres to choose from that you many feel overwhelmed. Of course, all my suspicious were correct religious, Republican, southern, uneducated people read the least which explain their narrow world view. Sorry, you know it’s true. Don’t argue with me, it’s pointless. (insert cheesy grin here)

Just a great thing

Thank God we live in America.

Sunday Blues

I don’t want to go to bed. It’s that simple. I’m sleepy as L. But, I refuse to go to bed. That only brings Monday morning around that much faster. I was sad all day because tomorrow is the start of another crazy work week. I wish we had three days off in a row instead of just two. Wouldn’t it be great? Uh, I’m just lounging around on my ruby red couch and watching VH1 Soul and loving my new TV (thanks Mama & Daddy) Now who’s going to carry this old out of here? That will be determined later. Anyway, I got a idea for a new book. (Almost finished with the first novel.) Oh, this new is going to be a great one. It starts with a good title and I have one. It’s going to be funny, controversial, and it will definitely have something to say. More later. Of course, it has it biographical overtones, but I won’t be the main character. I might not be in there at all. I’m outlining now. It’s after midnight…..shoot.

You know you do it to

I just partook in one those delicious, decadent, secret pleasures in life. I watched the True Hollywood Story on E! Channel. Yes, you all have watched this show. Danny Bonaduce, Paris Hilton or Dana Plato. It's EXACTLY like a train wreck: impossible to take your eyes away. I just watch Vanessa Williams: disgraced beauty queen to uber-villainess Emmy-nominated actress on the hit Ugly Betty (one of my favorite shows). But what I really found interesting is that her second husband, the SUPER-FINE....uh, did I say SUPER-FINE.....I mean SUPER-FINE....what was I saying? Anyway her second husband, Rick Fox, actually possibly cheated on her. The rumors were never confirmed, but those were the allegations made by the Star (a giant in journalism). I was like if a man will cheat on one of the most beautiful women on earth, ladies we are all doomed. I mean she is the quintessential American (secret) ideal of beauty. White hair. Blondish hair. Blue Eyes. Naturally tanned skin. Exotic. Shapely but not 'vulgar'. I mean what did this man want? In her day she was much more beautiful than the likes of Halle Berry or Jennifer Anniston (who really is a mannish, ugly, anorexic fake-ass beyatch). Anyway, it just got me thinking. DOOM! DOOM! DOOM!

2015.26 miles

Approximately 2,015 miles away, my future may await. I’m not completely sure if what is in store, but it feels like it could be big. There are big decisions to be made. There are sacrifices to be made. There are egos that must be set aside. It could be beautiful or it could be one big mistake. Vulnerability is what’s at stake. Opening one’s heart fully and completely is on the line. Complete surrender to another is the ambition. Can this future hold something beautiful and promising or something ugly and painful? It’s that big. It’s that important. It’s that incredible. I need a light to guide me. I need a sign. I need divine intervention.

I know, I know, Ms. Scary Prosecutor of S.Co. I keep get involved in these crazy long distance entanglements. Nobody in Louisville understands me. I don’t listen to silly, asinine songs like “hey, bay, bay.” (as soon as I heard it I was like WTF!). I don’t wear burgundy hair. I don’t “Greek” style sandals laced up to my kneecaps. I just don’t fit in! LOL! I listen to Beck, Gorillaz, John Legend, Jonny Lang & Alice Smith. I wear my real hair at its natural color. I wear flip-flops whenever possible. I only wear TWO rings (one on each hand). It’s hard being me, but sooooo fun!

I'm too idealistic

I believe in fairy tales. I believe in love songs. I believe in Rumi love poems. I believe in happy endings. I believe in chick flicks. I believe in Mary J-Kendu redemptive love. I believe the best friend will see the light. I believe in the family with tons of kids who all turn out to be successful. I believe in ABC After School Specials. I believe the Nice Girl always gets the Nice Guy. I believe love will conquer all. I believe in Jane Eyre and Mr. Rochester. I believe in Love & Basketball and Brownsugar. I want it all to be true. I want it all to be right. I don’t know how I got like this.

I’m ok, stop calling me

I’ve scared a few people. I was being a tad dramatic yesterday. Back in the day before Big Pharmaceutical infiltrated our lives, a person could be melancholy and no one got excited. Now, it’s like take a pill. I lean toward sorrow. I teeter on chaos. I hover on disdain. Anyway, l I thought if I got it all out, maybe I could get over it. It worked a little. I’m still P.O., but I’m better. A guy in Florida helped. Thanks, Florida Boy. A girl in Shelbyville said some encouraging words. And a little short girl who is preggers said some nice things as well. Thanks, Preggers & Ms. Get Your Revocation Passed Cuz There’s a New Prosecutor in Town. Anyway, I’ll get it together. I really will (hopefully). I need peace. I need peace. I need peace. If you can ‘t be apart of solution, get the hell out the way, man!

Uh, I love this man.

I hate everyone and everything

Have you ever just stared in the mirror and thought: “What in the $&#*& were you thinking???” I’ve been doing that a lot lately. I can’t see the forest for the trees. I am drowning and worried about a steak dinner. There is not an ounce of anything that could cure what ails me. Everything gets on my nerve. Everything makes me want to stab it lifeless. Everything is going to hell in a handbasket. I want to become a cat lady. I want to move away and not tell a soul. I want to slap everyone silly who defies me. I have a complex. I’m perfect imperfection. I want to crush every bug I see including butterflies and fireflies. I want to send a brick through a car windshield. I want to slash tires. I want to cold-cock life right on the chin. Dead in the jaw. Uh, I’ll be fine.

Remember this? The real thing.

If ever there was a reason to.....

Buy a Kanye West CD this is the reason.

My choice

I’ve never been in love and I not sure if it supposed to feel good all the time. (I’ve been completely and utterly obsessed.) I can’t get a person out of my mind. He creeps in at the most peculiar moments: when I’m on the record in court, when I’m watching a movie, when I’m writing a memo for work…just weird times. I think of so many things. Why do I like him? Why do I love him? Does he like me as much? Does he love me as much? We have so much in common. We have so many differences. He has qualities that annoy the stuffing out of me. He has qualities that I find so admirable. We fight like cats and dogs. We share our deepest secrets. We struggle for dominance. Yet we both want to surrender to the other. It’s a funny feeling. Sometimes I smile to myself; sometimes I frown. Not at all like I thought love would be. Is it love? It’s definitely strong. It’s definitely a connection. Umm, I’ll call it love. It’s my choice, right?

Yikes

Black women Dating Out

"To a certain degree, black people are sick of each other," Alexander said. "It would be better for black men and black women to open their options."

Damn! That's the quote that struck a cord in me. I feel it is true! Successful Black women are disappointed that the American dream of a family in the traditional way is very elusive for them. Successful Black men (just like unsuccessful Black men) are utterly controlled by peer pressure, so they pick the status mate: a white woman, any Brown Woman, or the Barely Black woman. Black women and men are all suffering under the oppression of white supremacy and there is a DIS-ease within all of us because of it. So black men and women are wounded, hurt and sick of each other. It’s so heartbreaking. What is the solution? Unknown. There is a war on black. There is a sordid, insane, mind-blowing historical reference to every tangled pathology in Black America and white America. I don’t know what to say. Read this and tell me that it’s not true (even though it’s a hoax). It’s the unconscious sway of the way things work. We have to break the cycle of this flawed thinking. Prayer.

Is it just me or.....

Is it just me or does Evan Ross look like a black Michael Jackson?

Is it just me or is the finest rapper Common and not that marble mouth 50 cent?

Is it just me or did Desh almost steal the scene from Jason Bourne this weekend?

Is it just me or is the funniest commercial on TV right now?*

Is it just me or is this girl never, ever, ever, ever going to replace Aaliyah?

Is it just me or is Reggaeton going to replace that tired, played genre loosely called Hip Hop?

Is it just me or there way a few stars with eyewear to cover EYE problems: Musiq Soulchild, Ne-Yo, and Biggie (can’t talk ill of the dead).

This certain person

There is an individual out there that has asked me “why haven’t you written about me on your blog?” I responded with a middle school, “because.” I’m not sure what this person is looking for me to write, but I’ll give it a shot. This person who asked me this somewhat self-absorbed question is far from an enigma, but close to a puzzle. The individual has so many great qualities apart from the arrogant self-absorption previously mentioned: independence, ambition, intelligence, and character. Sometimes I wonder what this person wants from me, but I never wonder too long because soon we start to bicker and I forget my musings. Of course, gentle readers, you have surmised that my gender ambiguity could only mean I am talking of a male. Yes, a man. Why get so twisted up for a man? I don’t know. Because.

Wal-Mart is Evil Incarnate

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20056614/site/newsweek/

Slavery. I don’t care what they about: it’s the Mexican custom to work these teenagers for free. Is there no end to Wal-Mart’s lust for profits. I had this argument with a dear, dear colleague of mine (you know who you are, Beefcake). I understand, and he so ardently reminded me, corporations exist to make profits. I don’t disagree. I mean it’s a law they have to make profits or they should dissolve. But how much profit is enough. A higher profit margin for Wal-Mart is an insatiable desire. I mean, it’s like a crackhead looking for a rock. How much is enough? Maybe if Wal-Mart paid a decent wage to the thousands of teenagers bagging groceries in Mexico FOR FREE, they won’t be trying to cross the Texas-Mexican border into this country to be our nannies and gardeners. I’m just saying. Greedy, greedy. Oh, and one more thing. Sending all our manufacturing jobs to China really paid off for Fisher-Price. I hope they get sued out of existence…it will serve them right. Greedy, greedy.

The discovery of America was the occasion of the greatest outburst of cruelty and reckless greed known in history.

Joseph Conrad (1857 - 1924)

I have the solution JCPS

Here’s what you need to do: assign children to schools by complete random selection. The computer spits out 1000 names and those kids go to school A, next 1000 kids go to school B, and so on and so forth. You want to see some REAL fireworks? Wait till the east end housewives have to send their kids to Shawnee, Moore or Iroquois high schools. Abandon the whole neighborhood school idea (because population wise it can’t work) and just use computer random. OH MY GOD! Can you see the outrage? Can you see the fastbreak to private schools? (All the privates in town couldn’t accommodate the close to 100,000 JCPS students.) Couldn’t argue with that assignment plan, could you? It’s random, not discriminatory (insert eye roll here). Maybe then every kid would get educated at the high level they deserve. Maybe then every kid would have truly equal chances at success. Maybe then every kid would treated with the same level of expectations if the project kid is next to the trail park kid who is beside the Lake Forest kid. It’s never gonna happen. We are going to be resegregated. Guess what? It hurts white kids more than anyone else. Uh, the world is getting smaller and you want your kid to go through school with no black kids, no kids of color and all rich kids. Thanks Supreme Court. (%$#!&%$#!)

Is she crazy??

Ghetto Bus Tour.

One of the many reasons Black people are never taken seriously. This woman is a disgrace, dishonest, and a dimwit. She can't be possibly be glamorizing the bricks, can she? There is a point where the glorification of poverty is beyond a detriment to society, but a downright reckless, disregard for the truth and safety of the community. There is nothing good about public housing as it exists today. Nothing. We should take of women and children but this is not the way. Poor people should not be ashamed of their poverty but it shouldn't be celebrated as a functional and practical way of life. You should be railing against it all times. Fighting to have a better life. Fighting to live better. Fighting to make something of yourself. Fighting. Always fighting. Complacency is not an option.

Who cares about Michael Vick?

I love animals. I had a beloved cat for seventeen years. But jail time for dog abuse? What? I in no way condone his behavior if he is guilty, but jail? Jail? I mean really who cares. Animals are animals. We should respect and care for them, but, hell, we eat the little critters! If Michael Vick had raped 10 women in 10 days it wouldn’t have gotten this much press. If seems more people are outraged about these stupid dogs than they were the Katrina victims. I means humans are more important than animals. I would never abuse a living thing (except a bug), but, dammit, I love hamburger. But, Felicia, we don’t eat dogs! They do in Vietnam! So, let’s get real. This is a waste of tax payer money to prosecute this case. We are in a unjust, costly war. Just had a thought! More people are outraged about these vicious, insane pit bulls than they are over the death of our beloved Military. Gimme a break, people, I don’t care. Fine him a million bucks. He’s already lost his Nike contract, people, now that’s suffering.

Culture of money

In France we don’t think the future is better than now.

French people think American workers are slaves.

We are financial slaves. Fear controls the American public. American corporations control the government and they have their bottom as the goal not the well-being of all Americans. The wealthy, the mega-rich need to understand they should do their fair share because their wealth would be impossible to amass in any other country. They are possible because America is a place of unfettered capitalism. Tyranny of the majority. The Military-Industrial complex with its strangle hold on any value that does not have greed and consumption as its main component. We are taught that later we can rest. We are fed to believe that later we can enjoy life. We are led to believe that we can have quality time with our children instead of quantity. We are told we can be rich too if we work hard enough. Nope, dope. We are chasing a dangling carrot that leads no where. Working will not garner wealth. Sheesh, working will not guarantee the necessities of life. Prices rise. Cost of living elevates. Wages are stagnant, except if you are a CEO or other corporate executive. The real values of America have everything to do with MONEY and nothing to do with little else. Idolize a high school drop-out celebutante or a neurotic reality “star.” Ignore the decaying environment. Ignore as I rob you blind with a unfair income tax. Ignore a president and white house who start unjust wars based on lies. Ignore the reality of moral imperatives of arming young people with sexual education while I peddle exorbitantly priced AIDS drugs. There is no money in a cure only in the maintenance. If we are not careful America will turn into a mythological story like Atlantis or an illusion in the desert far, far from the wet, lush oasis.

(Don't worry I know that no one gets me.)

Anything you done to me, already done to you

Unfortunately, this country’s race healing is suffering a sustaining blow when the Supreme Court ruled that school systems cannot use race to promote diversity within the school district. Many of today are too ignorant, willfully or unwillfully, of the past. Most people want to forget over 250 years of FREE labor of African enslaved peoples. Many people would like to gloss over 100 plus years of Jim Crow or codes/laws that only applied to Black people which relegated Black people to second class citizenship (funny enough they paid the same taxes). Twenty-five years of court supervision to create diversity is a drop in the bucket. It’s nothing really. It’s less than nothing. This country is no longer interested, willing, or concerned with making Black people whole. The people of the country want to forget history, ignore history, erase history because it is uncomfortable and unpleasant. And, yeah, I’m talking about the past again. All Christians talk about is the “good old days” why can’t I mention “the bad old days.”??? I’ve said it before: when every other man and woman’s name is Juan or Maria, maybe some people will see the point of diversity. Then some people will see that anything you done to me, already done to you.

Uh, Bush is a punk for commuting the sentence of his boy, Scooter. But, it’s Re-PUKE-blican politics as usual: power plays, rationalization, and hypocrisy.

You can’t compare Clinton’s pardons to this. All his people served some time. All his people did their criminal acts to benefit themselves not Clinton.

How many days till this PUNK is out office?

CONSERVATIVE VALUES WILL ELIMINATE FREEDOM

When Julee Lacey, a married mother of two, tried to get her birth control pill prescription refilled at a CVS near her home in suburban Dallas, the pharmacist refused. "She began to tell me that she personally does not believe in birth control, and that therefore she would not fill my prescription," said Lacey. (see the full article at ABC News http://more.abcnews.go.com/sections/wnt/Living/birth_control_pharmacists_040406.htmlv )

This actually happened in Texas. This is not a joke. This is not an email hoax. A pharmacist based on her ‘values’ decided not to fill a prescription for a woman prescribed to her by her licensed physician.

Who in the hell does this pharmacist think she is?

Besides the fact that birth control medication is prescribed for various other reasons other than birth control like irregular periods, pms and the symptoms of menopause, this pharmacist and others like her should find another profession if their values interfere the treatment of customers of the pharmacy. I was going to say patients, but pharmacist are not doctors. I will conceded the fact that pharmacist are excellent sources of information. Their education in how the body works and drug interaction is invaluable.

But ultimately they are like smart vending machines, they dispense medicine and inform us of the side-effects and precautions.

Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine or cared, for that matter, if my pharmacist approved or disapproved of the medication I was taking. I assumed that was between myself and my doctor. We decided on how to treat my mental or physical ailments, and then I followed or rejected the advised treatment. The pharmacist doesn’t even enter the equation for my overall total health.

So, where does a pharmacist get off telling someone “I don’t approve of this behavior” therefore I will deny your legal, rightful request? Conservative values (read fanatical). Conservatives with their rigid and sometimes ridiculous notions of the world and how everyone must conform to their ideal will destroy everyone’s freedom in America.

We have the right to do, believe and say anything within in the bounds of the law in this country. This is not Afghanistan or Iraq. This is the USA; where the constitution protects individual rights from tyranny, totalitarianism, and despotism (which all mean the same thing...but I need all three words to be effectively emphatic.) Conservative beliefs against birth control, abortion or homosexuality should remain in the pulpit and the church. These behaviors are purely personal in nature. They do not effect anyone other than the people directly involved. I personally think every woman in the United States needs to be on birth control pills, since they have been linked to lower rates of cervical and other female-related cancers. (see the Government’s own website http://www.4woman.gov/faq/birthcont.htm ) But, that’s just me. If a woman doesn’t want to take these medical miracles, then she doesn’t. As they say: “it’s a free country.”

And speaking of freedom. The moderates and liberals in this country need to get some backbone and start opposing these domestic terrorists within our own borders. Women all over the world would kill to live in this country. Where we have life like no other woman has in the recently recorded history. Although our status is not up to complete equality in all aspects of human interaction. We do not have to burn ourselves once our husbands die or abandon us. We have the right to a divorce. We have the right to birth control. We have the right to vote. We even have the right to enjoy fucking husbands without the threat of female genital mutilation. We have the right to chose our own dress. We have the right to inherit. We have the right to determine the number of children we ultimately have. Many, maybe most, women in the world do not enjoy this freedom.

If so called ultra-conservative values continue to be normalized in this society, we are on a path that will lead to a theocracy. A government where someone’s God decides how the rest of us should live.

Morality and good conscience belong in government. But one’s man belief system has no place in the overall governing of this country. We have rules of law. We have constitutional rights. We have freedom of religion. We have separation of church and state.

Pharmacist and others who want to hold us hostage to their belief systems need to be put on the fringes of society where they belong.

Moderates and people of common sense unite against this tyranny, this foolishness, this attack on our individual freedoms.

Read where DOCTORS are doing the same crazy ish:

Smart women for Obama, Uneducated women for Hillary

A new poll actually says this. I’ve been listening to pundits and the talking heads try to figure this one out. It’s simple. This country is filled with anti-intellectuals. I don’t need know book-learning. I’ll just pray to Leonardo Da Vinci’s nephew. Sophisticated people recognize Hillary as a political chameleon. She tailors her persona and comments to the audience. Barack simply speaks his heartfelt message of changing things and solving problems. This county is extremely dumbed down, it’s no wonder they look to Hillary as a viable candidate for president. She’s arbitrary and capricious (lawyer’s love that phrase). But let’s talk more about anti-intellectualism. There is a real backlash toward science, facts, and learning. It’s not hip to want to be an engineer or scientist. This country is filled with wanna-be American Idol contestants and the next reality ‘star.’ This country is obsessed with a high school DROPOUT who is going in and out of LA county jail like its Macy’s department store just because she’s rich. Why do you need college if you’re already rich? College is not to make you rich. College exposes your puny mind and limited experiences to different things in the world. You know the other 5.75 billion people on earth (where more than half that number is either Indian or Chinese)??? As my mother says all the time: they could fill Freedom Hall with all the stuff you don’t know. We need to up the bar on all levels of discourse in this country. We need to reed books and novels not tabloids and gossip rags. Who cares about celebrity news? Does anyone know that the father of modern African literature, the writer of Things Fall Apart (the title of one the CDs of the Roots), recently received an award for his body of fiction. He helped give an African perspective on European colonialism. Which is why there are so many problems in modern Africa now…..but you would have a context for that if you just read InTouch. This country is falling apart. (Wait I just saw Prince William on TV, he’s cute!) See even I’m susceptible. But he’s a PRINCE.

Jealousy

A jealous woman is worse than any male chauvinist. She is a tool of the male chauvinist. She plays into all the stereotypes that women can’t get along. Women are catty. Women are only concerned with looks. A jealous woman has so many insecurities and deep feelings of inadequacy that she attempts to make other women feel as bad about themselves as they do. A jealous woman is obsessed with other women’s bodies, sparkling personalities, or accomplishments. She had no life of her own because she is so consumed with other people’s lives she can’t live her own. She is a troublemaker, peace-breaker and mischief-maker. She cannot be trusted nor should she be tolerated or liked. She should be prayed for, cuz when I see the witch I’m beating her down.

Realizations

It never dawned on me during my youth that I wouldn’t get exactly what I wanted when I wanted it. I feel like I have accomplished so little in my 32 years. Scratch that. I feel like I have not accomplished anything I wanted to accomplish in 32 years. I didn’t think at 32 I would still be single, still be childless, still be homeless, still be without my dream car, and still be wondering what in the hell I was going to do with my life. They say the 30s are the new 20s. The babyboomers strike again: attempting to extend their ‘youth.’ No the 30s are the 30s. You should be working and starting your family. Youthful pursuits are laid to rest and you begin to contribute to society monetarily, socially, and through volunteerism. You’re insides are rotting at the same rate as they were when the 50 wasn’t the new 40. My eggs are old. 32 years old to be exact, not ripe and healthy as they were 10 years ago. My eggs are No-yolks. Many will say I sound very ungrateful. I have a top-notch legal education, a fulfilling job, and a nice place to live. But, I’m just disillusioned about where I thought I would be by now. John Mayer called what I’m having a “quarter-life” crisis. I’m 32 and there are so many realizations that are coming to my mind. You are not guaranteed an “ideal” life if you work hard and go to school. You are not guaranteed a happy marriage if you have a good job and are a responsible, decent adult. You’re not guaranteed a good life at all. Nothing you do guarantees anything. Working hard does not even guarantee money.

Oh, I’m bitter today. Things will be different tomorrow. Just in a bad, bad, bad mood right now.

Oh, I’m moody and hi-strung. So what?

Distraction Distraction Distraction

This is the strategy that every good defense attorney uses on a jury. “Look over here, don’t look at the facts!” is the battle cry. Look away. Look away. Look away. That’s how I feel when I hear the supposed connection between Imus’s racist and sexist comments and rap music. This is the last time I will talk about this situation. But, I had to say this one last thing. First, there is no connection to rap music and the reprehensible behavior of this aging, attention wHOre—Don Imus. It is a wicked distraction. Yes, wicked and evil. How would the fact some rappers who call all women, not just Black women, bitches and hos be used as an excuse for a 60 year old man to say “nappy headed hos”? Rap cannot be blamed for this man’s statements. I want somebody to post one lyric where some rapper actually said the phrase used by Imus. The argument has been widely circulated that rappers have some how normalized the term “ho” to describe a woman, a black woman more specifically; therefore, it is rap who can be thanked that these student-athletes were called out of their names. BS is what I say. Complete bull.

The question that should be asked is: why do whites look to the worst in Black humanity as their example of what a black man or woman is??? Why is a black woman a video dancer or a welfare mother and nothing else? Why is a black man a criminal or filthy mouth rapper and nothing else? There is no way a white person can say these are the only images of Black people they are exposed to and therefore have nothing to juxtapose these negative images. Untrue. A bold face lie. A cop out. There are tons of positive images of black people on TV—men and women: Oprah, Barack Obama, Bill Cosby, Condaleeza Rice, Colin Powell to name a few. There are tons in Louisville---Chief Robert White, Attorney Olu Stevens, and Dean Blaine Hudson at U of L. There are tons of rappers that don’t call women out of there names: Common, Mos Def, Nas, and The Roots. The question becomes why whites love to highlight and focus on the worst in Black people. Black people are lawyers, doctors, policemen, teachers, etc. The sickness of this is in white people. The racism is in white people. The sexism is in men. Why judge a whole race of people on a rap music video? Does the white race judge all white people based on rock music videos like Marilyn Mason or Rob Zombie? No, whites are individuals. Blacks are a group.

Ho is an insult. Always has been, always will be. Repeating it over a million times does not change this. Anyone who says “we thought this was the ‘urban way’ to talk about women” is being intellectually dishonest. This is the number #1 problem in this society: dishonesty. On all levels. White people never want to hold the mirror up to themselves and say: we have deep-rooted prejudices and racism against black people and we need to examine it. Racism is always talked about in the abstract and not like it anyone is afflicted with it. Racism is a white problem and it effects colored folks. The prejudice in the brown people is the hate that hate produced and doesn’t affect white people in anyway.

There is no way in 2007 that a respected journalist could make this analogy: Women are promiscuous and wear slutty clothes. They are in countless porn videos. So, it is stands to reason that men think they can rape and molest them. Women have to change their behavior because porn stars have normalized promiscuous and outrageous sexual behavior. Or this analogy: Jews had all the money and power during pre-WW II Germany. With their behavior as unscrupulous businessmen they have normalized crooked business dealing. So, it stands to reason they were put in ovens. This would not be tolerated and should not be tolerated. But, black people are judged by a few rappers and told if it wasn’t for all your criminals and rappers and bad-behaving athletes, you would be treated with respect. If black people just acted right, there would be no racism. If black people were just perfect, then Imus couldn’t have said those student-athletes were nappy headed hos. It makes no sense.

This so-called rap and Imus connection was a distraction, because white people do not want to deal with their racists psyches. In fact, they are decidedly NOT going to deal with it. They have externalized it as a problem outside themselves…like they are fighting a Giant Monster roaming the US cities and countrysides. It’s outside themselves. Really and truly it is in their hearts and minds. And don’t get me wrong, this is a very, very, very complex issue, racism. Being racist doesn’t mean you hate all black people or that you go around saying nigger. It's subtle and insidious. At its very core it means you believe in white supremacy and black inferiority in all aspects of human behavior and life. Everything/one white is better than everything/one black. Think about it. It is a not accusation nor is it a insult. It is problem that needs to be addressed. Like alcoholism or any other addiction or disorder.

I’m glad Imus was fired. Extreme behavior deserves an extreme response.

Don’t Fire Him, Bankrupt the Bastard

Even if you haven’t heard yet Don Imus the original shock jock called the Rutgers’s Women’s Basketball team “nappy-headed hos.” Unfathomable. But I disagree with the call for his firing or resignation. I think we should stop listening to his show and BOYCOTT all corporations that sponsor the show. That’s the only thing that sends a clear and precise message. The corporate suits will fire him quicker than he can take off that ridiculous hat he wears sometimes if the advertising dollars dries up. Firing him will not do a damn thing, really. He’ll get another show, another network. Put him in the poor house. Take away his livelihood.

On another more important note: His spewing of hate speech only fuels pitiful race relations. Don Imus has only shown a light on America’s dirty little: racial stereotypes are ingrain in our society never to be extricated. Blacks can dance. Blacks like fried chicken. Blacks are lazy. Blacks are criminals. Black women are ugly. Black men have big things. The list goes on. There are stereotypes about EVERYONE. And the citizens of the US believe them all. They are repeated, regurgitated, re-tooled, re-vamped, and re-packaged for a new age, a new generation. These ideas are inescapable. I wish we could eliminate them. I wish we could start with a clean slate. But we can’t. What we have to do is confront these stereotypes instead of continuously sweeping them under the rug. And when I mean “we” I mean white folks. It has never made sense to me that black people talk about racism ad nauseum. Shouldn’t the ones who are afflicted with this malady be the ones to discuss it? Don’t even mention “black racism” cuz that is nothing but the hate that hate produced. Plus there are black folk that hate white folks but at least there is a reason behind this hatred. White folks usually hate black folks without any reason other than the black skin and what they think it means or represents. Blacks have never done anything to whites. You can’t even say crime, because according to the FBI statisticians crime is nearly always intra-racial and inter-racial. Of course, we know introspection will never happen. Whites have had over a hundred years to heal their psyches from the poison of slavery and over 40 years to excise the venom of Jim Crow. They have no need to. They are in the position of power. They are in the majority. When they are outnumbered by the Latinos, maybe they will finally see the light.

It’s a CANCER Vaccine

Why are these religious freaks veiled as “concerned parents” against a cancer vaccine? We as Americans are BEGGING mega-billion dollar pharmaceutical companies to use their inordinate wealth to develop and create cancer drugs. But, I cannot believe when I hear people saying they don’t want this new cervical cancer vaccine. We could wipe out some of the viruses that cause this horrific disease. But ‘people’ are upset because this particular form of cancer is usually caused by a sexually transmitted disease---Human Papillomavirus ---so I guess they have no need for this cancer vaccine. Why? It makes no sense. I bet a dollar to a donut (learned that nifty saying from a great friend who is a Army veteran) if this was a breast cancer vaccine, there would be NO opposition. We all know that breast cancer is not caused by any sexual contact. The new drug has mistakenly been called a STD drug. It’s not a STD vaccine. It’s not a license to have sex. It’s not good for some women and not other. It’s for girls before they become sexual active. It’s for GIRLS. For women my age the vaccine is not effective. Eighty percent of women are exposed to HPV. It’s not just for the sluts. It’s not just for the whores. It’s not just for the prostitutes. It’s just not for the immoral Black and Latin girls. It’s for all girls who could be exposed to this virus that could potentially cause cervical cancer. Uh, 80%. (I don’t know who this 20% is---nuns, lesbians, I don’t know.)

Get educated women. (There’s even a Louisville connection to this phenomenal drug.) Stop being drug down by sexual myth, sexual hypocrisy, sexual domination, and sexual oppression. Sex is natural. Sex is one of the things in nature that is as strong a desire as the search for food and water. I’m sorry, evangelicals, sex is GOD given. Sex is not bad. Sex is not evil. Sex is not dirty. Sex is necessary. Sex is beautiful. Sex is natural. Your daughters will have sex. Your daughters are having sex. Your daughters think about sex. This vaccine could save their life one day. This vaccine will save thousands of lives. Don’t believe the hype about it hasn’t been tested. “We don’t know the long term effects.” They know that Viagra may cause blindness. Where’s the outrage? Over the counter drugs kill hundreds every year. Natural gas kills hundreds every day. Binge alcohol consumption kills thousands every year. Cigarettes kill, no doubt, but we still want to light up in the local restaurants. Immunizations kill children. But will we give up the virtual eradication of polio, small pox, measles and other childhood diseases? This is ridiculous. If I had a daughter I would do everything humanly possible to save her from suffering. It’s a CANCER VACCINE. Stop fixating on sex. It PREVENTS CANCER. That’s a damn good thing.

I'm moving in whether you like it or not

Ever here of Hazelton, Pennsylvania? It’s in the middle of very interesting trial in federal court. I’m somewhat torn. Well, not really. Let me give you the brief recitation of the facts of Hazelton, PA: In a matter of a couple of years this small town of about 30,000 have been overrun with illegal aliens from Mexico and Central America. This town has seen an increase of violent crimes, narcotics activity, and gang activity. The barbaric and vicious Central American gang/guerrilla soldiers of MS-13 are even present in this town that could never be described as a teaming “metropolis.” The other results of this influx of illegal immigrants are a completely overwhelmed local healthcare system, social services, law enforcement and educational system. The answer? According to the city it’s the drafting and passing of the Illegal Immigration Relief Act. The Act came after a couple of extremely violent crimes by illegals. This Act fines and punishes citizens for renting to illegals or employing illegals (that’s just for starters). The city officials decided if the Feds wouldn’t do anything to patch the Sieve that is the American borders then they would. In steps the ACLU and the rest is you know in Federal court. Well, any first year law student can tell you, what the town did violates supremacy clause of the Constitution (i.e., Feds rule, States drool). But, here is my problem---what the hell were they supposed to do? Crime went up 30%! Violence, gangs and drugs are terrorizing this little town. Of course, some illegals are looking for a better life. (Why they don’t fight for a better life in their own country is baffling to me, but whatever.) But, some of these people are just plain criminals. The welcome of the Statute of Liberty says give me your huddle masses yearning to breathe free, not give me your vile, brutal criminals yearning to kill, maim and intimidate. The question is why doesn’t the Federal government fix the border. Let people in through the proper channels. We cannot continue on this path of turning a blind eye to border patrol (uh, 9/11, duh). We have an infrastructure problem as it is—no need to overburden it with an illegal alien problem as well. I have no doubt that many illegals work hard in this country, but they should come in under the legal measures set in place. I have nothing against Latinos, I do have a problem with people from other countries coming here and living without any oversight or regulations. There is a rule of law that should be enforced. How would you feel if I moved into your garage for a better life and you couldn’t do anything but feed me, give me free medical care, and educate all my children for free? All I would have to do is displace you from your job and get paid less to do the same work or more. Good deal. I’ll be over in the middle of night and your neighbors are going to make you do it. See ya soon!

MTV Generation

I’m apart of this cultural weirdness. MTV is just over 25 years old. I remember when showed videos! (Ha!) Anyway, the video is an interesting cultural, economic and sociological phenomenon. More specifically the rap video. As hip hop has changed, so have its videos. I remember when the stars of rap videos where “around the way” girls. You know the girl with extensions in hair, bamboo earrings at least two pair, a fendi bag….you get the picture. She was various colors of the rainbow from Brown sugar lassies and caramel treats, peach-skinned girlies, walnut tinted women, and plum tinted black ladies. But then rap became a billion dollar industry. Rap artists weren’t just hood heroes. They were international stars (with matching bank accounts & fame) with fans in Japan, Denmark, France, Brazil, and Australia. With international stardom come international female worshippers. Girls that never would have thought twice about a black male as a lover or a boyfriend or husband were suddenly loving the new negro star. The around the way girl was unceremoniously and sanctimoniously eliminated from the video, the object of desire and her rightful place as the queen of rap. Of course, her African booty (that can’t be replicated by plastic surgery or be bought in any store) is good enough even though it is such a carnal, hedonistic, over-sexed stereotype it’s impossible to watch. Then lies started about why the around the way girl was dropped like a bad habit. She’s a bad mother. She has a bad attitude. She’s mean. She’s hateful. She stinks. She doesn’t take care of herself. She’s a whore. She’s a (b)itch. She’s too black. The around the way girl scrambled to keep up and self-correct. But she was too late. There was a trade up for a “better” woman. Here’s the hierarchy: 1. White woman, 2. asian woman, 3. latin woman, 4. any other woman (Indians just started feeling the black man’s money, I mean vibe), 5. a mix of the first four, and then 5. the Black woman. (SIDEBAR: I saw pictures of James Brown’s wives from the first one when he was barely famous until his death: first wife plum tinted black, second wife caramel cutie, third wife white.) That is why like 12 years ago I stopped watching videos. They're poisonous. I only watch them sparingly now and that’s out of pure curiosity—like I’m watching the Wild Kingdom and the mating dance of the speckled hornytoad of South America. If you were smart you would stop watching them and especially boycott BET.

If you are white, you probably don’t understand anything I just wrote. Well consider yourself educated.

(You can thank LL COOL J’s video “I need love” for this post. What a classic and fantastic video that was)

Distractions

There are dreams I have, which will be fulfilled, but, at times, my attention is draw away from them. My life will include a husband that loves, adores and worships me. He will appreciate, love and like me. He will rather be in my company than anyone else’s and he will know that he wants me to the exclusion of any other woman. My husband will have no kids and no ex-wife who will wear my last nerve, but if he does any of those things the ex-wife will be married to great guy and there will be ONLY one kid. Me and this fantastic husband o’mine will have at least four babies (all girls) and live in a large, comfortable, beautiful house. We will have a big, fun dog like a Great Dane or a Mastiff named Brutus, as well as, a couple of cats---Mulder and Scully. We will go on vacations to Florida and do fun family stuff like cook-outs. We will have family friends and all the kids will get along. I will have a great job that I love and hubby will have a great job that he loves as well. The girls will be full of personality, kind, loving, caring, funny, generous and very smart. The pets will be well behaved and NEVER do any funny business on the carpet. Now, this life I have describe will happen and the only thing stopping it is me. I have to be courageous to get rid of dead weight (you know who you are) and be patient until this Fabu Hubby reveals himself (he’s been dreaming of me too, ya know). I’ve been distracted by Mr. Goodbar, Mr. Niceguy, Mr. Fine-azz, and Mr. BestFriend, but none of them is Mr. Fabu Hubby. I know it. They know it. The American People know it. So, no more distractions. No more settling. No more pining. No more hedonism. No more hoping. I’m going to be patient, Mr. Fabu is on his way. (hurry up dude!)

Every Minute

Every minute I am ungrateful for everything I have, for everything I have been blessed with is a betrayal. Every minute I complain about not having enough money for MORE shoes or another purse is a betrayal. Every minute I am unappreciative for my 2004 car or my oversized apartment it is a betrayal. I am blessed to be born to intelligent and righteous parents. I am blessed to be born in a country where opportunities are available. I am blessed to be born right thinking and whole. I am blessed to have a caring mother, a revolutionary father, a loving sister and a dynamic niece. I am blessed to have good friends. I can no longer be consumed with what I do not have and realize I have so much. I can no longer be depressed that I live a certain way and not another because I live so well. I can no longer whine and bitch about the CD I could not buy when I have hundreds. I have hundreds of channels of TV to enjoy. I have tons of books and magazines to read and devour for their knowledge. I have indoor plumbing, heat, a fully equipped kitchen, tons of comfortable furniture and tons of clothes. The things I have are so many. I can complain no more. I can whine no more. I can only be grateful. I can only be appreciative. I can only be thankful. I can only focus on all the things the Creator has given me. To do anything else is a betrayal.

Say it one more time & I’ll whoop you.

Say it one more time & I’ll whoop you.

If one more person says Barack Obama is not really “African-American” I will without a doubt and without a nanosecond of hesitation rip their lips off. This is a loaded statement if there ever was one. It brings to mind so many implications. First, what is an African-American? I’ll tell you: It’s a completely imprecise moniker for a displaced and dispossessed people. Descendants of slaves. No names. No traceable ancestry. No country. No language. No cultural ties. Everything African-Americans have in terms of culture is self-created or apart of indiscernible genetic memory that can barely be verified. This term was created because some leader of the 80s thought it would inspire pride or self-worth. It really is an arbitrary and inaccurate name. The best label for the descendants of slaves in America is Black. Why black? Because, that is the quality for which all judgments derives: the color of the skin, the shape of the nose, the texture of the hair, the thickness of the lips, and the shape of the body. Other groups (e.g., ethnic Latins, but racially Black or Africans) who do not self-identify with the Black people of America distance themselves from the politics and demonization of Black people, but bear the burden of the darkness of their skin and get treated as such. Obama is Black definitely. Visually without the knowledge of his specific lineage he will suffer the same slights, judgments, and hate as a man or woman born in Alabama or Mississippi or Kentucky who are descendants of the enslaved.

This ridiculous comment also calls to mind: is this a dis to “real” African-Americans? Are we to gather from this statement that he is better because he is not burdened with the point-of-view of “real” African-Americans. He is not tainted with an “African-American” agenda. I don’t really care if he is “African-American” or what. So what if is not saddle with being nameless in America. So what he is not the son of a sharecropper. So what if he is not the son of a single mother with no education. Along with a host of other insane, stereotypical cultural references we saddle every leader that looks like him. He is young and has had the benefit of the “struggle” of the ancestors—alive and past on. Isn’t it time the torch was passed baby boomers? (and you know how much I hate them)

He is a brilliant man. He is a thoughtful man. He is a courageous man. He is an insightful man. He can change America. He will inspire the higher nature of Americans. He will inspire Americans to do what is difficult but right. He will encourage Americans to do what is hard but good. He will restore the nobility, humility, and dignity to the office of the President.

Uh, can you tell I like him?
