I have a secret

Yes, I have a myspace page. Had one way before it was a national phenomenon. In fact, I was on a local myspace when there was only a few thousand members and I was like Member 1005 or something. But these sites quickly lose there appeal to me. I get tired of things very quickly. Ask my ex-lovers. Okay, back to myspace. Don't try looking me up. You'll never find me. But anyway, I have a secret to reveal: A bookmark my secret crushes as favorites on myspace. Okay, so everyone does it. But, I'm admitting it here in an open forum to publicly ridiculed ('cuz some of you just love to hate on me...i guess it's b/c I'm the three Fs: fantastic, fabulous & funny). I mean I go and check on these worthless boys all the time to see if they added any new pictures or new content in the way of blogs and stuff. I'm a junkie. These boys obviously do not deserve by adoration or attention, but I'm a dope for dimples, curly hair, pretty faces, Al B Sure look-a-likes, voices like Luther Vandross. Did I mention I LOVE dimples? Okay, anyway, I wish I didn’t have these little turds bookmarked, but I kinda like cyber-stalking them. Wait, that’s not a crime is it? I should know that, I AM a criminal attorney. So, I stalk these men online, who hasn’t done it? I constantly google friends, exes, current lovers, people I meet, and the like. What if a new piece of information comes up that I am not aware of? What if I am not constantly updated on these people? The world may come to an end...of course. Do I sound a little obsessed? Okay, so I’m a little obsessed right now. But....hold on....I gotta go and check something.....

Wikipedia

No dis on this site at all. But it is NOT a valid source to quote from like World Book or Britannica Encyclopedia. There is NO oversight. There is no fact checker. There is no centralized editorial system. Quit quoting it like you are quoting a renowned literary text or scholarly reference book. That goes doubly for other websites floating out there in cyberspace. People, listen up. Just because you can hyperlink to like a hundred sites doesn't make you an expert on any given subject. Any information on the web should be triple-checked for accuracy. Anyone who took basic college English or went to half-way decent high school should know that references and citations are a serious venture. You just don't start citing things willy-nilly. You might as well say my Uncle Remus said "all roses are red" and he never lies. Or Aunt Marge said that "dinosaurs never exists" and she's a Christian. Do you see my point? Some random website does not a valid source make. So the next time you start quoting some website as your authority, think twice, sheesh, think four or five times because you have the potential to sound like a freaking idiotic moron.

To G

I had to come back here one just one more time
And try to trace the steps I left, left behind
A fool's desire for just one final glance
A fantasy that blinded me to the trap
Suddenly something deep inside me longs to stay behind
The only way I can keep from being torn apart
Is if I can get you out of heart and out of mind

Such a lonely place to be (yeah yeah)
Locked inside of all my memories
Which once upon a time I held so dear (so dear)
But now I see the truth becoming clear
The boy that used to live here has gone away
And now this man is standing in his place
I think it's time for me to face this last goodbye
You're out of heart and out of mind

I know it won't be easy
Just one step at a time
And with gods help I can move
On with life

This is a Jonny Lang song. It says beautifually, perfectly what I'm feeling right now.

Can Hillary Win?

Uh, hell to the nah as a famous crack-addict said once. Is she trying to put another Repukeblican in office? I mean does she remember the early Clinton presidency years? Femi-nazi? Persistent un-substantiated rumors of lesbianism? Bad mother accusations? Un-interested wife claims? Conservative radio will eviscerate this woman…as they already have. Is the country ready for a female head of state? No. We’re not a progressive European state like England? Sheesh, we’re not India, Liberia, Ireland, or Canada for that matter. We are filled to the brim with misogynist, egotist who masquerade as the religious moralists. And some of these people are women. There’s not so small ‘church’ in town that closed their daycare because it encourages women to work outside the home and neglect their duties has house-bound homemakers. Multiply this attitude by thousands of ‘churches’ across the nation and you have a loss for the Democrats. We are no where ready for a woman president. We just aren’t. I wish we were. But we are kidding ourselves to think that this country filled with people from the Southern states will ever vote for a woman (uh by the way, my blog about Ky not being exactly the South has had the most comments than any other, whodathunkit?). The ridiculous notion that women will vote for her because she is a woman is not going to happen. I just saw a woman on TV that said “I don’t trust her.” This woman doesn’t look like she would know Orrin Hatch from Arlen Specter, but she doesn’t trust Hillary. This is what we are working with here. We are country of women that are obsessed with diets, Botox, breast implants and getting a man. If the Democrats make her their candidate they are THROWING AWAY the election.

It’s your choice to work there

I heard this from somebody I know regarding my choice to be a public SERVANT. And I thought, but didn’t say, well ain’t that a damn. Well, thank God, some of choose to serve the public. Thank God Teachers choose to get abused by overbearing, dysfunctional, co-dependent parents and educate bratty kids. Thank God there are brave Police Officers who put there lives in dangers to catch the monsters that prowl our streets. Thank God there are Firefighters who courageous enough to run IN burning building to save lives and salvage as much property as possible. Thank God there are Emergency Medical Technicians who save all these old farts and hook them up to oxygen tanks or save young DUI victims. Thank God there are Prosecutors who forgo the trapping of insurance defense and ambulance chasing to make the community safe. Thank God there are people who are willing to sacrifice an inflated salary at an evil, multi-national corporation just waiting on the second they can send every American job to some overseas Third World woman who will work for literally pennies a day. Thank God that some people choose to the jobs that most people won’t do, can’t do, aren’t willing to do, and are incapable of doing. Thank God some people will do jobs that benefit the many and not just the few. Thank God for the Public Servants.*

MLK Jr Day

You would think I have all these wonderful platitudes and clichés to say about this day. But the truth is I don’t really understand what this day is supposed to mean. MLK did many things to help society. He led the Montgomery bus boycott. He gave inspirational speeches. He, along with many others, led the country in the right direction. But the fact remains that even though we have this ‘day of celebration’ there are tons of things that still need to done. I don’t know what to think about any of it. MLK was a great man. But we still have people that think he was a trouble starting you know what. For the last thirty years, history has been revised and untaught, so many think he was a leader “only” for black folks. He was a leader for poor, the disenfranchised (look that up if you don’t know what that means), the unseen, and the ignored---black, white, brown, yellow or red. His next mission was to fight poverty which would really upset the balance of power in this country more so than the racial equality. I’m glad the country was blessed with this man. I guess that’s what I understand about this day.

Will Hip hop save the American car industry?

There is no question that Black people in America are the trendsetters. Anything Black people do becomes cool, borrowed (stolen), marketed, and sold to the mass consumer. From the way Black people dress (hat to the back a la Will Smith), talk (jiggy is in Webster’s), groom (have you seen how many shaven head white men there are lately?) and sing (uh, can we say RIFF?); Black people are the leaders of culture. Black people invented Spirituals, blues, jazz and rap: all of these are uniquely American creations that have revolutionized the world. My sister was in Europe and she got instant credibility from strangers once they knew she a black American. She told me it was kinda funny (in both ways: ha-ha and weird). So has the America car industry figured out a way to sell their cars so they revitalize their failing sales? I’ve seen Slum Village and Chevrolet Impala. I’ve seen Ludacris and a couple different of General Motors vehicles. They are using these rappers because they know they are trendsetters. They know people emulate these people. Marketing is used because it works. Don’t let any Repukeblican tell you about personal choice and responsibility. Madison Avenue uses advertising because it influences sales. Plain and simple. They don’t make ads because they want to see how clever they can be. They use ads because they help create a desire in people to buy a good or service. The American automakers are trying to make their cars cool to a particular demographics (young black teens), because they know it will influence the rest of society. We could cast a long shadow on the rest of the buying market and get Americans excited about American cars. I hope it will work. Our country needs these companies to succeed for America to succeed. Don’t let Toyota and the other foreign cars fool you with their American plants. The real profits go back to Asia. The HQs are in Tokyo. Good luck, guys, you’re going to need it.

Overwhelming

In my recent issue of Newsweek, they profile one of the greatest American Philanthropist: Oprah. If you don’t like her, you really need to examine your world view. Really. Of course, you can never agree with someone all of the time. That is purely stupid and naive. Not only is it stupid and naïve, but it shows a mind that is undeveloped and unformed---one that has absolutely no critical thinking skills. If you seriously examine your mistrust or dislike for her you will know it is from yourself and not her. I was overcome with tears after reading and reviewing her website about her school in South Africa: Oprah Winfrey’s Leadership Academy for Girls. It was described in detail and it sounds grand, exquisite, beautiful, and luxurious. No expense was spared from uniforms to dorm rooms to china patterns. These special girls will be cultivated and nurtured to bring the African women and children (and then hopefully the men) out of the darkness of ignorance, tribalism, and economic oppression. Many in the country and out think “why is she spending so much on these girls.” Because they need it. Because they deserve it. Because the Lord has made it so through Oprah’s generosity, love and goodness. Giving money to a foundation that provides food, clothing, shelter and medicine is very important. Especially in any part of Africa. But this is a tool of change that will effect generations. This will transform. This will make it possible that one day the many peoples and countries of Africa will someday be able to give charity to other countries because they will have abundance. I wept and wept for all the invisible, forgotten, mistreated, abused, disregarded, ignored, hated Black women and girls in this country, in Africa, and all over the world. So easily ignored by everyone. So easily blamed by everyone. So easily unnoticed by everyone. Oprah you are the angel. You are the Lord’s gift. Thank you from one of the many women who fight to be visible, remembered, adored, regarded, seen, and loved. May I one day be able to give one tenth of what you have given the world.
