This is pitiful

Can you believe this ish!?!?! You white folks probably don’t even know that black folks have this silly issue. Uh, it stems from white supremacy, white Jesus, white God, white Barbie, white models, white babydolls….blah, blah, blah. Obliterated self-image and self-esteem. Self hate HIGH. Self love low. Uh, I could go on, but I have other things to do. You know my stance…

oh, yeah, we have to battle this nonsense as well

Well the fool who planned the party was black. What did white people have to do with it. Look within before casting stones outside.

I'm white and I knew about this issue. In fact, I was pissed off when I watched the movie Norbit and saw how the preference for lighter skinned women and the stereotypes against darker skinned women were demonstrated without irony by how the two love interests for the male lead were written and cast. Not to mention the difference between their sizes. The preferred love interest was practically a stick figure and while the other was obese.

Silly…

It’s also silly how some white people refuse to acknowledge the action of their ancestors from the past. The first thing the person mentioned is that it was a black person that threw the party. They don’t want to accept that this is a mentality that was created by a slave system and still perpetuated in the African American community. It’s just like the rapist telling the victim to get over it and walk it off. I can’t stand it when ever there is a complex conversation about social dynamics that some people (African-Americans do this too but I specifically see it with European-Americans) aren’t able to see past the nose on their face.

Just read your essay on "my turn" in Newsweek and wanted to tell you I loved it. I agree with all you said. Good for you, being all over the place with this blog (too bad you stopped it and never fixed the quotes!), NPR and now Newsweek. Your message seems to start to really be heard and make a difference. Cool.
Keep it up!
Thanks
