A little over 3 billion to the church to battle AIDS

This is Bush’s worst idea since the Iraq war. What was he thinking? Oh yeah, he’s sucking on the tit of right wing conservative zealots. Christianity cannot stop the spread of HIV. What are they going to do? Start a ‘just say no’ campaign. (We see how well that worked.) They will not pass out condoms, because pre-marital sex is wrong. (Click here for something funny.) But what does that have to do with disease control? Not a damn thing in my book. We know what stops the spread of HIV/AIDS. Condoms. Of course, abstinence works. But human being craze sex like water, food, and sleep. It’s a fact. It’s the way we propagate the species, and that is one of the strongest urges in a human. You can’t stop the spread of HIV/AIDS by preaching about Jesus and encourage people to cultivate a “personal relationship” with God. HIV/AIDS is a serious virus. A deadly virus. A preventable virus. With knowledge of SCIENCE, we can fight it. With education we can fight it. If you wanna pray for something, pray that the religious right comes to its senses and realizes that GOD gave us science, the scientific method, and the miraculous mind to question things. We can’t pray away disease and God-given desire, we can be educated. We can teach how to prevent this disease from spreading. If we leave it to the church, prayer and superstition, we will be like Africa where way too many people have a spreadable disease. Their culture is so ingrained, condom use is virtually nil. In Africa, 25.8 million people were living with HIV at the end of 2005 and approximately 3.1 million new infections occurred during that year. That’s about the population of New York and New Jersey combined. Okay, enough doom and gloom. Use a condom, dagnabbit.
