I love animals. I had a beloved cat for seventeen years. But jail time for dog abuse? What? I in no way condone his behavior if he is guilty, but jail? Jail? I mean really who cares. Animals are animals. We should respect and care for them, but, hell, we eat the little critters! If Michael Vick had raped 10 women in 10 days it wouldn’t have gotten this much press. If seems more people are outraged about these stupid dogs than they were the Katrina victims. I means humans are more important than animals. I would never abuse a living thing (except a bug), but, dammit, I love hamburger. But, Felicia, we don’t eat dogs! They do in

Who cares about Michael Vick?

He did not lose his contract with Nike, yet! They are just not releasing his new shoes. I hope he gets jail time, a million bucks is pocket change to him!
I guess you haven't had enough people commenting or reading you blog lately, so you felt the need to say something controversial. Or rather, a new controversial topic than what you normally go on about.
I used to be a huge fan of Vick. I love football, and he's an exciting quarterback to watch.
But if all this is true, it's a total dealbreaker for me. He is a horrible human being with no regard for life. Studies overwhelmingly show that people who rape, murder and maim other people have a history of harming and abusing animals. Animal abuse and torture is how it starts. He allegedly was bashing dogs skulls in, electrocuting them and drawing out the pain and torture of these animals. If he wanted to kill dogs (which is bad enough), couldn't he just do it without torturing them?
It's sickening and totally deranged.
Fines won't do him any good because he's loaded. In my opinion, they should strip him, handcuff him to a couple of steaks and lock him in a ring with his very best fighting dogs.
C'mon folks... Let's face it, no one really likes the idea of toruturing another of God's creatures for fun and/or profit. Very twisted. And if someone likes it, they should seek serious counseling.
However, we're talking about pitt bull dogs. You know, the breed that recently killed the old lady in Virginia and the child left with his "pets" to look after him. Again in Virginia. Sorry folks but this is not a Virginia matter. It's a national matter where this heinous breed of Hell's creatures are terrorizing humanity at virtually each contact with them.
Let's do away with breeding pitt bulls - outlaw it - and then we can talk about criminal conduct in dog fighting. Time to get real.
Comparing one crime to another especially when the value you appraise highest is the attention garnered in the public eye is irrelevant.
Each crime must be prosecuted individually without regard to how other crimes are prosecuted. To wit: just because Mel Ignatow got away with murder doesn't mean that you shouldn't be charged for shoplifting.
Also, the war and prosecution of crimes have nothing to do with one another and are funded separately. Should I be upset that AIDS research didn't get enough money because of National Park funding?
Counselor:
Isn't Vick and his issues really concerning the underlying crime of gambling? If he is involved with a large, coastal operation -- with his own personal kennel, a breeding operation and such -- it begs the questions on how much money was really involved and what the hell else he could have been gambling on? I smell a new Rose by the name of Pete.....
