Did you mean Melvin Van Peeples or Mario? I understood the analogy, but I think Melvin is more appropriate for the comparison.
And bell hooks? How about Giovanni or Sanchez? G and S have a better grasp and use of erotic language than bell--- especially black erotic symbolism.
