Can Hillary Win?
Uh, hell to the nah as a famous crack-addict said once. Is she trying to put another Repukeblican in office? I mean does she remember the early Clinton presidency years? Femi-nazi? Persistent un-substantiated rumors of lesbianism? Bad mother accusations? Un-interested wife claims? Conservative radio will eviscerate this woman…as they already have. Is the country ready for a female head of state? No. We’re not a progressive European state like England ? Sheesh, we’re not India , Liberia , Ireland , or Canada for that matter. We are filled to the brim with misogynist, egotist who masquerade as the religious moralists. And some of these people are women. There’s not so small ‘church’ in town that closed their daycare because it encourages women to work outside the home and neglect their duties has house-bound homemakers. Multiply this attitude by thousands of ‘churches’ across the nation and you have a loss for the Democrats. We are no where ready for a woman president. We just aren’t. I wish we were. But we are kidding ourselves to think that this country filled with people from the Southern states will ever vote for a woman (uh by the way, my blog about Ky not being exactly the South has had the most comments than any other, whodathunkit?). The ridiculous notion that women will vote for her because she is a woman is not going to happen. I just saw a woman on TV that said “I don’t trust her.” This woman doesn’t look like she would know Orrin Hatch from Arlen Specter, but she doesn’t trust Hillary. This is what we are working with here. We are country of women that are obsessed with diets, Botox, breast implants and getting a man. If the Democrats make her their candidate they are THROWING AWAY the election.

The 08 election is as easy as ABC ... anybody but Clinton.
Obama/Clark 08
I completely disagree. Although I am unfortunately well aware of all of the Hillary haters, her race in NY is a perfect example of her political capabilities. She won over a large number of republican votes in the state. Plus she won a lot of conservative areas of NY. Yes, this is the South. But why can't Hillary win over our Republicans, too? I am not saying that she will win. I just think that she should not be underestimated. She is a brilliant woman and a brilliant politican - who happens to be married to a political genius. Don't discount her!
I disagree with your generalization, but not your overall conclusion. I think we are ready for a female President, and I believe a female could win the election. However, I agree that Democrats are hanging their hopes on the wrong female. The problem is two fold: First, there are voters out there who will not vote for a female no matter who they are. Whoever the nominee, they will have to get the great majority of votes left to win. And here enters Hillary's major problem, she is NOT as well-liked as Bill. Many, many, many people love her husband yet despise her. Not to mention those that hate anything and everything Clinton. With these two groups combined, I agree that she just will not be able to get enough votes to win.
However, not all female nominees would have both of these issues to contend with. And, forgive me for saying so, but I don't think you are giving the American public enough credit. I think the majority of voters could care-less about the next President's race or gender. I think what most people are really looking for is someone to believe in. Hillary Clinton is many things, but inspiring is just not one of them.
Hilary! Uh???
Why aren't we talking about Obama? I do not believe Hilary Clinton will win the primary folks.
AND.... the republicans, well they are "scammering!" (Is that a word! Ha! Maybe just tonight!) They have yet to announce a viable candidate (will McCain run?)
will see.............: )
Obama supporters are soldiers and we are preparing the battlefield!
To say the least, the Democratic primaries will be VERY, VERY interesting. I think all the candidates have something to offer. But I can’t see one out shinning the others at this time. As a black man I don’t think this country is ready for a black president, I don’t think it’s ready for female president either. I don’t like to be stereotypical, however just according to a study of history, sociology and culture; I don’t see the stars aligning for this. However I do think that most Americans are pretty discussed with this Administration and the way the country is going so we probably will see a backlash against the Republicans and by default see a Democratic sweep like we recently saw.
If they can focus on the loss of jobs, the shrinking of wages, the increase in prices, and the mismanagement of wars and debt…they can do it. However I don’t see too much of that now…it’s anyone’s guess on what will happen.
P.S.
You all up there should be concerned with your own upcomming Govenor elections... I would like to see a BLACK govenor of Kentucky. However with 7% of the population, and less than 20% of the total population with a Bachelor's etc.. I don't have much hope of that happening soon...Mass with similiar racial demo to Kentucky is diff as there is HIGHER EDUCATION and more LIBERALS.
And don't forget the Phillipines --they are more progressive than us, too (a la Corazon Aquino.
Barack is extremely charismatic and intellectual, but has down-home, grassroots appeal -- like Bill Clinton.
But Hilary...I just don't know. She doesn't inspire me. She is very wooden--- she reminds me of John Kerry. When I hear her talk or see her in "action", I never feel as if she will be productive or venture forward and seek to create a brave new world, like Barack or Bill. Are we picking her just because we think she can win or because we think she will effect great and positive change? I also question her personal judgment -- it is a concern for me that she is still married to Bill Clinton? I like his political style, but he is a horrible husband. Get rid of him, Hilary-- he has done you dirty and embarassed you to the highest degrees possible. This is an issue of an integrity and sincerity for me.
Also, I am keeping my eye on Bill Richardson. I have liked him since he served as UN Ambassador and Secretary of Energy (under Clinton I, of course). He has a great track record in effectively representing US interests in international circles. He knows our country's energy problems like the back of his hand. He governs a state with serious immigration problems. I believe he was one of the governors who willingly sent the National Guard to his southern borders to deal with the collateral crime associated with illegal borders crossers, such as rising border murders, crimes against ranchers near the border and etc. He is half-Hispanic ---he loves his people, but loves the law, his state and his country just as much. He is a well rounded and experienced politician. I hope his exposure and primary chances improve.
The Clinton-haters hate because its actually a HUGE possibility. keep hatin...then you'll be even more mad when it actually happens.
